Welcome to Your Vote Week

The Electoral Commission’s ‘Welcome to Your Vote Week’ will be taking place from 9 to 16 March this year. The purpose of the week is to support young people in developing their knowledge and understanding of the democratic process. This year’s theme is ‘Why Voting Matters’. Further information and impartial resources are available on the Commission’s website.

You will also find resources on our own website, including an animation on how STV works. The next Assembly election will take place in May 2027. Many young people will be eligible to vote for the first time and the Commission’s ‘Welcome to Your Vote Week’ is a great opportunity for those who work with young people to start a conversation about democracy and voting.
