Chairing the Business Committee

The Business Committee is made up of Speaker (Chair), Chief Whips of the main political parties and, since 2016) one representative from the smaller parties in the Assembly. The Business Committee is an important committee, responsible for agreeing what business the plenary meetings of the Assembly will deal with. Plenary meetings take place on a Monday and Tuesday in the Assembly Chamber. The Order Paper (agenda) lists the order of business for a meeting. The Business Committee usually meets on Tuesdays at lunchtime.
