Let's Talk series launches with North West students quizzing MLAs

The Assembly Education Service launched its latest series of ‘Let’s Talk’ events on Friday 25th November in the Holywell Trust, with over 90 sixth form pupils across Foyle, East Londonderry, and Mid Ulster constituencies.  The first event in the new series saw students from seven schools quiz a panel of MLAs on matters that are important to them and their local communities. Throughout the event, the young people used electronic voting technology to participate in polls on the issues discussed. A wide range of issues were raised including equal marriage, votes at 16, religious education in schools, prescription charges and economic growth in the North west.

If you would like to attend a ‘Let’s Talk’ event near you, please get in touch.  The Education Service can provide transport for schools wishing to attend.

The remaining Let’s Talk events in the 2016-2017 academic year are:

13 January 2017 Enniskillen Enniskillen Royal Grammar School
24 February 2017 Ballymena St. Louis' Grammar School
3 March 2017 Armagh The Royal School, Armagh
