Let's Talk - New events scheduled!

As well as the events taking place in the Foyle constituency and the Antrim & East Londonderry areas, the Northern Ireland Assembly Education Service is hosting two additional Let’s Talk conferences in the near future. We are currently taking bookings for the following events; act now if you want to be involved:

Friday 6th March 2015
For all Post Primary Schools in Newry & Armagh and South Down constituencies
(Venue: TBC)

Wednesday 11th March 2015
For all Post Primary Schools in the Strangford and North Down constituencies.
(Venue: Parliament Buildings)

The aims of these events are:

• To learn about the work of the Assembly, democracy and elections

• To participate in a panel debate and round table discussion with MLAs and key decision makers

• To challenge traditional voting patterns

• To increase engagement between young people and their MLAs.

This is an excellent opportunity for your Year 13-14 students*, who will be first time voters in the next elections, to ask their politicians the questions which they feel are relevant to them. We hope that students of all subject areas will find the event useful.

*Schools without post 16 provision may bring year 12 pupils

All events are free and lunch will be provided. Schools may bring up to 10 pupils and places will be allocated on a ‘first come first served’ basis. The deadline for applications to be part of the two March events is Friday 27th February 2015.
