Education Students from Stranmillis University Andrew, Grace and Matthew
placement 8 - 19 January 2024

2024 began with final year Stranmillis students, Andrew, Grace and Matthew joining us on a two-week insight placement programme.
This placement opportunity allows students to explore a broader career beyond the traditional classroom.
During their time with the Education Service, the students observed and assisted us with the Education Programme for schools. They had informative meetings with the Speaker and the Clerk/Chief Executive of the Northern Ireland Assembly. The students also got to meet staff from other Assembly business areas and this gave them the opportunity to hear more about different job roles.
In their final week, the students completed a micro-teaching task.  They each delivered a short session to the Education Service team and displayed their excellent skills and understanding of an Assembly related topic. We enjoyed hosting these amazing students and we wish them well with all that lies ahead.

Book an online session or a visit to Parliament Buildings

Contact us to book an online session or to arrange a visit to Parliament Buildings, Stormont. Pupils will learn about the role of the Assembly and how young people can influence decision making. They will take part in a voting and/or debating activity and visit the Assembly and Senate Chambers (subject to Assembly Business). We can include an MLA Q&A on request.

Share your thoughts with the Youth Assembly

The Big Youth Survey is now live on CitizenSpace. As you’re aware, the new Youth Assembly is up and running and they will be choosing issues to focus on over their two-year mandate. We’re asking young people, aged between 12 - 21, to help them decide. Friday 26 January is the closing date for submissions.
