The Hillsborough Agreement

The St Andrews Agreement paved the way for the third election to the Assembly and its restoration on 8 May 2007.

The Hillborough Agreement of February 2010 allowed Westminster to devolve Policing and Justice powers to the Northern Ireland Assembly in April 2010. This was hailed as the ‘final piece’ in the devolution ‘jigsaw’.

The Agreement also addressed ways to progress on difficult issues such as parades, improving Executive functioning and dealing with outstanding matters from the St Andrews Agreement.
