Anti-Bullying Week

Anti-Bullying Week is coordinated by the Northern Ireland Anti-Bullying Forum and takes place from 13th-17th November 2017. Schools and youth groups across Northern Ireland are being encouraged to get involved. Students visiting Parliament Buildings have been finding out about anti-bullying legislation and sharing their thoughts about bullying on Twitter.

Applications are now open for the annual Teachers’ Institute Course at Westminster from 22-24 January 2018.  This residential course on the work of the UK Parliament is fully funded by Parliament’s Education Service, including travel, accommodation and most meals.

What happens after the election?

The election

A new Assembly of 90 MLAs was elected on 2 March 2017 (reduced in size from 108 MLAs). The election was an unexpected, ‘snap’ election, triggered by the resignation of deputy First Minister, Martin McGuinness, on 9 January.

Education Service during Dissolution

 

Dissolution is the name given to the period of time between the announcement of an Assembly election, until the final election results. The Assembly was dissolved on Thursday 26 January, 2017 and the election will take place on Thursday 2 March, 2017.

The Supreme Court offers ten educational institutions from across the UK the opportunity to take part in a debate day every academic year.
