Year 13 & 14 Teachers: New dates for the Let's Talk programme!

Based on the success of previous events in Belfast and Foyle, the Northern Ireland Assembly Education Service is working with The Peace and Reconciliation Group to bring a ‘Let’s Talk' event to a venue near you.

In addition to the event in Enniskillen on 18 October, we are now taking bookings for the following events in Parliament Buildings, Belfast:

Thursday 21 November 2013

For all Post Primary Schools in North, South, East and West Belfast constituencies

Wednesday 27 November 2013

For all Post Primary Schools in North Down, Strangford, South Down, Upper Bann and Lagan Valley constituencies.

The aims of these events are:

 • To learn about the work of the Assembly, democracy and elections

 • To participate in a panel debate and round table discussion with MLAs and key decision makers

 • To challenge traditional voting patterns

 • To increase engagement between young people and their MLAs.

This is an excellent opportunity for your Year 13-14 students*, who will be first time voters in the next elections, to ask their politicians the questions which they feel are relevant to them. We hope that students of all subject areas will find the event useful.

*Schools without post 16 provision may bring year 12 pupils

All events are free and lunch will be provided. Schools may bring up to 10 pupils and places will be allocated on a ‘first come first served’ basis. The deadline for applications to be part of the two November events is Friday 25 October.
