Pudsey Bear Launches Family Fun Day at Parliament Buildings

Parliament Buildings was the venue today for the arrival of Pudsey Bear who launched the popular Family Fun Day which will this year take place on Bank Holiday Monday (4 June 2012).

Now entering its fifth year, the all-day event organised by the Department of Finance and Personnel promises to be a fun packed day of games, amusements and entertainment for the entire family.

Children and adults will be invited to come inside Parliament Buildings where they can take part in fun quiz tours of the building, listen to local story teller Lexy Higgins and try their hand at some craftwork challenges set by the Assembly’s Education Service. Pudsey Bear will also be on hand to help the Northern Ireland Assembly break its 2011 record of welcoming 2,300 people into the building.

Speaking before today’s launch event, the Speaker of the Northern Ireland Assembly William Hay MLA said: “It is a great pleasure for the Assembly to take part in what has become a much anticipated annual event and to welcome local people into this wonderful and iconic building.

“I am keen to encourage as many people as possible to visit Parliament Buildings and this annual event is a great way to showcase the very best that the Assembly has to offer.

“As well as getting an opportunity to enjoy the beautiful grounds of the Stormont Estate, adults and children will be invited to take tours of Parliament Buildings itself and take part in a number of fun activities organized by our education service.
